Young Waylon Jones was born with an incredibly rare bodily mutation that filled his early life with taunts, isolation and the persecution of his fellow classmates. Afflicted with thick, green and scaly skin, reptilian yellow eyes and a pair of jaws lined with razor sharp teeth, Waylon’s body swelled and bulged to grotesque proportions, towering over others even with his severely hunched spine. Even his home life was crippled by the alcoholic aunt that raised him. Rejected even by the freak shows and wrestling organisations that took him in, as his animalistic savagery and instincts developed and worsened as did his condition, the life of young Waylon Jones seemed cursed from the day he was born.
Under the alias of Killer Croc, a name he picked up in the freak show, Jones turned to a welcoming life of crime. Croc’s armoured skin, razor sharp teeth and claws, as well as his near super-human strength and reflexes from his time in the wrestling industry made him an immediate force to be reckoned with in the Gotham City underworld, earning him either the instant respect or instant fear of the existing criminals. His persistent persecution throughout his childhood spawned an intense and violent hatred of humanity, manifesting as a deep sociopathic instinct that the many inhabitants of the world were nothing more than food to him.
As Croc grew older, so too did his condition develop and worsen. The human side of him is slowly withering away as the monster he has become takes hold, mutating his body and mind to the extent that he has grown even further away from humanity than ever before. Croc has been forced off the surface by his condition and into the damp, darkness of the sewers, lurking in the stagnant waters and emerging only to conduct his criminal activities or to feed on those foolish enough to cross him. This is, however, a minor inconvenience to Waylon when compared to the heightened strength, senses and reflexes that his condition grants him. Since his departure into his underworld labyrinth lair, his name has become an urban myth, crossed with a legend of an animalistic serial killer that lurks in the sewer, and emerges in the dark of night to snatch unwary victims from the dark streets to drag down with him and devour.
